Military Monuments in the United States

As the American Legion nears its Centennial Year the National Organization has initiated a major project.  It has set up a database to catalog every military monument in the United States.  The project focuses on every war from the American Revolution to the War on Terrorism.  It will provide an excellent opportunity for communities to reaquaint themselves with the meaning of their memorials.

The Millville Post 82 Centennial Committee has undertaken the task of cataloging the memorials in Cumberland County.  However, we cannot do it alone.  We need the assistance of our communities.  We ask anyone with knowledge of memorials in their home town to write to Post 82 and provide us with basic information:

  • What the monument memoralizes
  • Location of the memorial
  • Who erected it
  • When it was erected
  • Any other information pertaining to the monument

Please do not assume we already have this information.  Send the information to us.  Only then can we be assured that all monuments are cataloged and added to the National Database.

Please mail to:  Nabb-Leslie Post 82, 220 Buck Street, Millville, NJ 08332
